100k's for Mental Health
On Sunday November 8 2020, Smurf will be running 100km's from Theodore to Moura and back again to raise awareness for mental health and funds for mental health Charity LIVIN.
In 2019, I was battling with mental health struggles. A combination of the pressures of principalship and almost a decade of non-stop career progression, the loss of two grandparents in a very short space of time, and years of physical and mental exhaustion all became too much. I was incredibly fortunate to have Smurfette who recognised the signs and was able to help me get the help I needed and support me in making life changing decisions.
I was able to speak out and get help. I was able to start the conversation with the support of Smurfette, my family and friends. This was the first step. Not everyone is so lucky.
THE LIVIN HEALTH MOVEMENT
LIVIN was founded on the Gold Coast, Australia in honour of a great man Dwayne Lally who like many others took his life after living in silence from a mental illness. LIVIN is all about living your life at the top and breaking the stigma around mental health. Connecting, supporting and encouraging one another to talk about their feelings and challenges because “It Ain’t Weak to Speak”. Through the development of cutting edge education programs, apparel and community awareness initiatives, LIVIN are launching a generational change. Let’s unite to help people start LIVIN again.
